On-Call Safety Specialist

Job Overview

SurePoint Safety is seeking a qualified and dependable On-Call/Temporary Safety Specialist to provide fill-in coverage at the WellSpan Hospital Build in York, Pa State College, PA. This position supports construction operations by ensuring strong safety compliance, hazard prevention, and consistent application of OSHA standards. This role is as-needed / on-call requiring local availability, as there is no travel pay or per diem.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily worksite safety inspections, assessments, and audits

• Identify hazards and unsafe behaviors; implement corrective action

• Support Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and pre-task planning

• Assist with incident investigations, documentation, and follow-up corrective actions

• Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable safety regulations

• Deliver Toolbox talks, and site training

• Track and document safety observations, corrective actions, and trends

• provide coaching and feedback to field personnel to strengthen site safety culture

Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum 3-7 years of construction or industrial safety experience

• Construction or industrial safety experience

• Strong leadership, communication and written skills

• Ability to work independently on active job sites and manage safety documentation

• Comfortable in fast-paced, active construction environments

• Must be able to respond within 24 hours

  
  

Preferred:

• Degree in safety related field

• OSHA 510 and or OSHA 500

• CSP, ASP, CHST, OR GSP certification

• Advance knowledge of construction safety standards

• Experience with contractor safety programs

  
  

• Ability to walk, stand, and navigate active construction areas

• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Ability to lift/carry safety equipment up to 50 pounds

Compensation & Benefits

• $50-$75 per hour

• 1099 Contractor Role

• No benefits, travel, or per diem
